Barbara Marie Baker of Laurel passed away on Dec. 27, 2025, at TidalHealth PRMC in Salisbury. She was born on March 29, 1942 in Millsboro to the late Olan and Mary Boyce. Barbara graduated from Laurel High School, and after graduation her career took her into the Paraprofessional career path, where she worked at the Frederick Douglas School for 13 years and in the Blades kindergarten classroom for 15 years.
Barbara was a lifetime member of the Laurel Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she was Past Assistant Treasurer, and enjoyed volunteering with the Good Samaritan Thrift Store in Laurel.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Diane Patchett (Chris), Judy Evans, and Irene Baker; brother, Eddie Boyce, Sr.; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Baker.
A viewing was held on Monday, Jan. 5 at the Laurel Fire Department. A funeral service was held at the fire department with Pastor Dean Perdue officiating. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery-Laurel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Laurel Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, 205 W. 10th Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956.
