Barbara Jean Hitchens of Laurel passed away on Sept. 22, 2021 at TidalHealth PRMC in Salisbury. Born in Gumboro, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lewis and Pearl Cullen Lewis. Barbara was retired from ECI as a supervisor in the accounts receivable department with over 26 years of service, and a member of Laurel Wesleyan Church. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed reading, gardening, collecting antiques, shopping at Boscov’s, and traveling to Lancaster to visit the Amish Country.
Barbara Jean is survived by her husband Neal Hitchens; son, John Levin Reese Pusey and his wife Crystal; daughter, Kimberly Pusey and her fiancé, Cole Anderson; brother, Tony Lewis; sister she was raised by, Mildred Price; sister, Becky Madden and her fiancé Ed Carmine; grandchildren, Emily Faith Pusey, Molly Reese Pusey, Brittany Munoz, Meagan Jones, and Jeremy Colston; great-grandchildren, Miles McGinnis, Presley Jones, and Madilyn Colston; nephew that was raised like a brother, Wayne Price, Jr. and his wife Donna. Several nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews also survive her, and her faithful four legged child, Tyson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald “Butch” Lewis; sister, Maryanne Rogers; and her brother-in-law, Wayne Price, Sr.
A visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the Laurel Wesleyan Church in Laurel. The funeral service followed at the church with Pastor Scott Conn officiating. Interment followed in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
