Barbara Ada Oliphant of Seaford, formally of Laurel, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024 at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford. Born in Seaford on Aug. 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harry Paul and Bessie Eulalia Carmine Hastings.
A high school graduate, she had worked a number of years at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in the food services division and retired in 1992. A true loving family woman, she enjoyed spending time with her three wonderful daughters and her wonderful grandchildren whom she adored. In addition to her late husband, Walter A. Oliphant and her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Buck and Benny Hastings.
Mrs. Oliphant is survived by her daughters Sarah (Lee) Venables, Lisa (Brent) Rogers and Susan (Bart) Phillips; a sister Lorraine Hearn and a brother Junior Hastings; four grandchildren – Melissa Gaull, Kristen Lancaster, David and Brittany Rogers; five great-grandchildren – Addison, Kellan and Nathan Gaull and Rowan and Hadley Lancaster; several nieces and nephews and her dedicated caregiver of 14 years Marsha Samuelson.
Funeral Services were held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel on Monday, March 4. Pastor Dean Perdue officiated. Interment followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. Memorial contributions, in Mrs. Oliphant’s honor, may be made to Centenary U.M. Church, 200 West Market St., Laurel, DE 19956.
