Arvalene E. Lowe-Moore of Laurel passed away on Oct. 11, 2020 at Tidal Health Nanticoke in Seaford, Delaware. Born in Laurel, she is the daughter of the late Oscar J. LeCates and Minnie F. Niblett LeCates. In her earlier years, Arvalene owned and operated a hair salon in Sycamore, then moved her salon to Trussum Pond and continued her business for many more years. She worked for Sussex Trust Bank in Laurel, Oliphant Chevrolet in Salisbury, and retired from Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown as a secretary/receptionist.

She was a member of King’s United Methodist Church and very active in all the church activities, a founding member of the Ninety and Nine, past member of the Rebecca Lodge, member of Del. Tech Alumni College, volunteered at HOSTS mentoring program at North Laurel.

She loved her cats, working in the yard planting beautiful flowers, taking bus trips all over the country, camping, hosting family dinners and gatherings, but her first love was her family and she always put them first. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Arvalene is survived by her sons, Benjamin Lowe and his wife Linda of Laurel, Michael Lowe and his wife Sharon of Laurel; daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” Daigle and her husband Del of Laurel; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; Lynmarie Weatherly whom was like a daughter to her; foster sister, Irene Dubriel, and foster brothers, Richard and Eddie Gschwandtner, Dick Phelan, and Earl.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William J. Moore; brothers, Norman J. LeCates, H. Lee LeCates; sister Mildred R. Hitchens, and her grandson Phillip Lowe.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be announced in the near future. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Odilon Claravall for the wonderful care and dedication he gave to their mother, and also to the doctors and nurses at TidalHealth Nanticoke for their excellent care and compassion.
