Ann Evans (Chicken) Spicer of Laurel passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021.
Born on May 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Clarence J. and Edith Simpler Evans.
After graduating in 1948 from high school, Ann worked at the Department of Elections. Later, she served as assistant librarian at her Alma Mater, Laurel School District from which she retired in 1982.
Ann was a loyal Sussex County Democrat. She cherished her high school basketball team and the memories. She was an active member of the Cheer Center and card club. She loved the Ravens and watching them on TV and always said they never get any calls in Pittsburgh. Her family will always remember the huge Christmas brunches held at Ann’s and Richard’s home.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Richard Spicer in 2014; a brother – David (Sonny) Evans; a sister – Victoria Hearn; a niece – Carol Jean Calloway and a nephew – Michael Evans.
Ann is survived by her sister, Debbie Evans Dolby; brother-in-law, Steve Dolby; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Evans and Grace Peterson and brother-in-law, Walter Hearn; eight nieces and nephews – Laurie (Steve) Comorat, Jason Dolby, Jeff Evans (Tracey), Ricky Evans (Jodi), Shelly Evans, Robin Matthews, David Evans and Alan Peterson and many great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery, West Street, Laurel, DE 19956 on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. Elder Elbert Robbins will officiate.
