Victor Lee Growden, Sr. of Laurel passed away peacefully, after a long illness, at his home on July 27, 2021 and is now with his Lord. Victor was born in Centerville, Pa. to the late Alvin M. and Pearl V. Bosely Growden.

As a career truck driver, he was the recipient of numerous safety awards, including having over four million safe driving miles logged during his entire career. He retired from Teamsters in 2001 and Eagle Transport in 2010. He was a member of Bayview Baptist Church. In his leisure time he enjoyed boating, hunting, camping, and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Candy L. Growden; sister, Gladys Bennett; and brother, Eugene Growden. He is survived by his wife, (Linda) Diane Growden and lovingly remembered by his son, Victor L. Growden, Jr. and his wife Kathleen; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one sister. Many thanks to Pastor White and Pastor Hatfield for their guidance and support, to the medical teams who worked to give him additional years of life, and to Delaware Hospice for their thoughtful care.

A visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9 at Bayview Baptist Church, 534 East 4th Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A celebration of life will follow at 4 p.m. at the church. Pastor C.K. White will officiate.
