John Ray Dean of Seaford passed away peacefully on Aug. 17 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Seaford on May 30, 1952, to the late William and Lucille (Billings) Dean.

John attended Seaford High School before beginning what would become his lifelong career as a mechanic. He spent 22 years working for Tire King, where he took great pride in working on cars and helping keep them running. His love for fixing things extended beyond automobiles, as he also had a special passion for working on lawnmowers.

When he wasn’t working, John enjoyed gardening, building and working on model cars and, most of all, spending time with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for being a jokester, always ready with a joke or a playful comment to bring a smile to those around him.

John will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his mechanical talents, his humor, and the love he had for his family.

He is survived by his spouse of 51 years, Linda Jones of Seaford; his son, Johnny Dean (Kelly) of Seaford; his grandchildren: Amber Picou of GA and Logan Dean of Seaford; his great-grandson, Nolan Picou of GA; and his brothers: Bill Dean (Peggy) and Frank Dean (Linda).

Services will be private.
