Books Across Delaware, a statewide service project seeking volunteers to help collect, sort, and promote book donations, will hold a drop-off on Aug. 19-20 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Seaford Jay’s Nest, located at 490 N. Market Street Ext. in Seaford.

New and gently used children’s books (pre K-12), picture books, educational materials, and young adult novels are being accepted.

The organization’s goal is to collect 3,000 books and distribute them to 30 schools in support of 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, helping encourage literacy and provide reading materials to students across Delaware. 30 schools have been selected based on  state testing grade. Books Across Delaware is currently collecting in Sussex for nine schools that need improvements in English language arts.
