It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Brian Walter, who left us on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at his home in Bethel. Born in Bellevue, Nebraska, he was a son of Donald H. and Henrietta E. (Wallman) Walter.

He grew up in Osseo, Minnesota, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas before proudly serving in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1993, where he was able to see many places and cultivate his love of travel and exploration. After his honorable discharge, he furthered his education, earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Penn State University. Professionally, he specialized in helping companies and municipalities implement effective workplace strategies in business and financing. His expertise and dedication left a significant impact on the businesses and teams he worked with.

Dave was a man of faith, finding community in the local Lutheran Church during his formative years in Minnesota and later becoming a member of the Seaford Church of Christ after moving to Bethel. He was known as a fitness enthusiast, often seen at the gym every morning by 4 a.m., and his passion for maintaining an active lifestyle was evident to all who knew him.

As an avid sports fan, Dave passionately supported the Philadelphia Phillies, Flyers, and Eagles, sharing countless joyful moments watching games with family and friends. He took great pleasure in cooking and loved spending time at the beach or in the pool, but above all, his greatest joy came from his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, David is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda L. McDowell-Walter; his daughter, Julia Walter (and Connor); stepchildren, Giovanni Cipolla, Ryan Cipolla, Madelynn Cipolla, Tobias Cipolla, and Anthony Cipolla; a brother, Dennis Walter; mother-in-law, Dorothea Winter (Philip); aunt and uncle, Don and Peggy Wallman; a cousin who was like a brother to him, Andrew Tveit (Teressa); and a host of other family and close friends. His unwavering love and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by his family and all who were fortunate to know him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer and Alice Walter and August and LaVina Wallman; aunt and uncle, Norman and Eileen Tveit; father-in-law, Ronald McDowell; and brother-in-law, Ryan McDowell.

In light of his recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, Dave and Rhonda celebrated a memorable “Christmas in July,” creating lasting memories with their families and inspiring others to spread Christmas cheer.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Laurel Church of Christ, 1010 S. Central Ave., Laurel, DE 19956, where a visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. There will also be a service on Saturday, Aug. 22 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 810 E. Broadway, Osseo, MN 55369, at 11 a.m., where a visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m.

Dave’s spirit and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
