The Seaford Blue Jays varsity football team opened the season with a 35-0 win over AI DuPont last Friday in Seaford. The Blue Jays were led by senior quarterback Vince Evans III who had a 36-yard passing touchdown to junior Taishawn Frisby. Senior Brendan West averaged 29 yards per carry with a total of 145 yards and three touchdowns.

The Tigers opened with an on-side kick that was covered by Seaford at the 44 yard-line. Evans held the ball on an option play and West scored his first touchdown on a hand-off to the right for a 31-yard run to the end zone. Senior Luke Metzner added a PAT for the 7-0 lead.
The Tigers started from the 20 yard-line on a touchback but with the tackling of Kaleb Thompson and an incomplete pass, the Tigers were forced to punt.
The Blue Jays worked quickly and a throw to Frisby in the end zone put Seaford up 13-0 with 7:48 to play in the first quarter.
Seaford scored the third touchdown of the quarter when West broke through the line for a 41-yard running touchdown with two extra points for the 21-0 lead.
Seaford’s Ty’Aire Buffalo put a sack on AI DuPont but a fumble by Seaford at the 24 yard-line was recovered by the Tigers. The first half had close to four minutes to play when Seaford’s Duane Scott and Jai’khai Stanley hit Tigers’ quarterback Quadir Clark for a fumble and in the end zone for a touchdown. The Blue Jays led, 28-0, at half-time.
In the third quarter, Seaford scored from the 17 yard-line on a run by West for the 35-0 lead. Coach Glenn Phillips made substitutions and worked the line-up to give players the opportunity for field play.
The Blue Jays completed the win to start the 2025 season at 1-0.
The team will go on the road Friday to play Indian River in an early afternoon game which starts at 3:30 p.m.
