William “Billy” Leonard Whaley of Seaford, and formerly of Concord, passed away on Aug. 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born in Seaford on Oct. 1, 1939, to the late Dorsey and Elizabeth Whaley. He retired from A&P Market/Superfresh, after retirement, he worked for Booth Glass, UTZ, and Harrington Raceway. He also served in the National Guard.
Billy is survived by his loving wife Doris Whaley, sons William Douglas Whaley of Laurel and Dennis R. Whaley of Seaford, daughter Cindy W. Pepper of Georgetown, brother Robert Whaley of Seaford, sister Eunice Townsend of Laurel, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers James Whaley, Emory Whaley, Paul Whaley, and Burton Whaley, and his sister Betty Baldree.
A viewing was held on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel. A funeral service followed at the funeral home. Pastor Jay Revel officiated. Contributions may be made in Mr. Whaley’s honor to the Blades Volunteer Fire Dept “Ambulance Fund”, 200 E 5th Street, Blades, Delaware 19973.
