John “Wayne” Morris of Laurel passed away peacefully at the Delaware Hospice center in Milford surrounded by his family on Aug. 12, 2025. He was born on Nov. 23, 1958 in Delaware to the late John A. Morris and Doris E. Morris.
John was a proud father and loving husband who dedicated 40 years to HVAC and plumbing wholesales at Penco Corporation. He spent most of his earlier years coaching Laurel Little League and Laurel Youth Sports football. He enjoyed mentoring those he coached. John was a part of the Sons of the American Legion at Post 19.
On most Sundays during the summer, you could find John surf fishing at Fenwick Island with his wife and daughter. He loved watching NFL and college football, MLB baseball, dirt and NASCAR racing. Without a doubt, John was a big Alabama football, Philadelphia Phillies, and Chicago Bears fan.
John is survived by his wife, Staci Morris; daughter ,Alexandra Brittingham (Morris); son in law, Ryan Brittingham; his beloved cat, “Laddie”; and his “bonus” daughters. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his niece, Maureen Allison, and sisters, Jo Ann Coulbourne and Carol Berna.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the American Legion Post 19, 12168 Laurel Road, Laurel, Delaware 19956 on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. The family asks that everyone wear their favorite sports attire in memory of John. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to “Cedarcrest Homestead Foster Tails & Kitten Rescue and Kitten Kafe” 302A Kay Ave., Salisbury, MD 21801.
