Suzanne Shreve Short went to the Lord on Aug. 12, 2025. She was born in Easton.
Suzanne (Sue) is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Leroy Short, married 62 years June 16, 1956, parents, Jesse Cover Shreve and Anita (Tolley) Shreve, twin sister, Margaret (Shreve) Perry, brother-in-law, Dwight Short and sister-in-law, Jan Short. George O. Lawton Jr., her son-in-law.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Denise Lawton and Deanne Beth Fonda; son-in-law, Carl Fonda; grandchildren, Zachary S. Lawton (Faith), Brandi M. Lawton, Jennifer I. Fonda and Abigail S. Fonda; great-grandchildren, Serenity Lawton, Kylie Doughty, Hunter Lawton, Elijah Daub, Waverly Lawton and Wyatt Lawton; brother-in-law, Gerald Perry; sisters-in-law, Eileen McGrath (Edward), and Joan Short; and many nieces and nephews.
Suzanne was a graduate of Easton High School in Easton and graduated from Goldey Beacom College. She worked as an executive secretary at Wilmington Group Inc. She moved with her family to Seaford and was an executive secretary administrative assistant at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and CEO administrative assistant and hospital board recording secretary.
She was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she was in the choir, Victory Senior Warden and director of Women’s Alter Guild. She loved to see the church at its best in all occasions!
Mom loved flower design, she was part of Red Clay Garden Club in Wilmington and Blue Ribbon Flower Design. She served on the Governing Board of the Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association. She was a member and artist at Gallery 107. She loved art, music, flowers and home design. She was a great bridge player and looked forward to playing with her friends. She and dad traveled extensively.
She was a loving mother to her daughters, grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church 205 Front St. Seaford Delaware 19973, where visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
