Joyce O’Day Davis of Seaford died on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Delaware Hospice in Milford.
Born on Oct. 7, 1932 in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Irvin O’Day and Mildred Shaeffer O’Day. She attended and graduated as salutatorian from Greenwood High School Class of 1950. She was a homemaker for the early part of her life. She later began working making space suits at ILC and then as a seamstress in the under garment business.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Seaford Church of the Nazarene, where she was very active in the church. She enjoyed reading the Bible, doing word search puzzles, cooking for her family.
She is survived by her children Larry Gray and Steven Gray both of Seaford; Gail Dunn and Cindy Leonard (Bill) all of Harrington; and David Gray of Bridgeville; a brother Paul O’Day (Barbara); her sisters Linda Horne, Phyllis Brown, Janet Williams and Doris Ross, all of Greenwood, and Lois Pritchett; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Davis and her sisters Thelma, Jeanie and Patricia.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 20 at the Framptom Funeral Home-Fleischauer Chapel. Burial will be in the Denton Cemetery in Denton.
