Michael Dale Hastings of Ellendale passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mr. Hastings was born on June 3, 1962, son of the late Richard Hastings and Frances Jane (Bowden) Jefferson. He was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, class of 1980, and spent many years working as a technician for Timmons Amusements, where he specialized in servicing vending machines.
Mr. Hastings was a soft-spoken man with a kind heart who never met a stranger. He was deeply devoted to his family and cherished every moment spent with them. His love of music was lifelong—he was a talented guitarist and vocalist who played in a local country/rock band during the 1980s. He also had a passion for dirt track racing and proudly drove his own #56 Street Stock at Georgetown Speedway for several years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, boating, and unwinding with his favorite television shows or exploring new videos on YouTube.
Mr. Hastings is survived by his loving girlfriend, Barbara Ledford; his mother, Frances Jane Jefferson of Bridgeville; and his children: Michael Lee Hastings (Stacey) of Bridgeville, Kari Green (Brian) of Delmar, and Doug Hastings (Katlin) of Seaford. He is also survived by his brothers: Mark Hastings, Thomas Jefferson, Jr., Elmer Jefferson, and Timothy Jefferson; his sisters: Rachel Keefe and Laura Jefferson; and his grandchildren: John Trice, Mya Hastings, Makayla Hastings, Michael Hastings, Jr., Bryce Green, Gavin Green, Remi Green, Kylie Minnick, Carter Hastings, and Grayson Hastings.
In addition, Mr. Hastings is remembered by his stepchildren: Lee, April, and Patty; step-grandchildren: Kaylee, Kylee, Aiden, MJ, Skyler, and Camren; and his beloved dog, Bella.
He was preceded in death by his wife Tammy Hastings; his father Richard Hastings; his father Thomas O. Jefferson; his stepmother JoAnn Hastings; and his cherished dog Skeeter.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 10 at Bridgeville Cemetery, Market and Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933.
