Maria D. Elliott of Bridgeville passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, due to a hard battle with ALS.
Maria was born at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was a proud member of Seaford High School’s class of 1966. Over the years, Maria built a fulfilling life, known for her many talents and unwavering devotion to her family and church.
A professional seamstress, Maria was a perfectionist in everything she did. She found great joy in the art of sewing, creating beautiful pieces with a meticulous eye for detail. She enjoyed tending to her flower beds and her passion for nature was matched only by her love for camping, where she cherished time spent with family and friends.
A long time active member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Seaford, Maria’s faith was central to her life. She was deeply involved in her church community, always ready to lend a hand, offer support, or share a kind word. Maria’s warmth and generosity extended beyond her church, as she was known for her kind heart and willingness to help others. She was a gifted cook, and a person who always had time for her loved ones, especially her grandchildren.
Maria was the beloved wife of 57 years to her husband, John T. Elliott, Jr. She is survived by her son, John T. Elliott, III; daughters Gina Marie Elliott, Traci Elizabeth Elliott, and Leslie Jane Elliott Ilmberger (Chris); and five adored grandchildren: Olivia, Allison, Carley, Valentina and Penelope; and her great-grandchild Sienna Maria. She is also survived by her brother, Martin Donovan (Grace), and a close family friend, Melinda Wolf.
Maria’s love for her family and her generous spirit made her a constant source of strength and joy to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but always remembered for her kindness, her giving nature, and her profound love for those closest to her.
