William “Billy” C. Baker of Laurel, passed away on Sept. 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Dec. 11, 1942 in Millsboro to the late Guy Baker, Sr. and Elva J. Lowe Baker.

Bill graduated from Millsboro High School in the class of 1961. After graduation, he went to work for the E. I. DuPont Company, and while working for DuPont he was drafted into the United States Army in 1966 and served for two years; serving one year in Vietnam. When he came back from the war, he returned to his career with the E.I. DuPont Company and later retired with 41 years of dedicated service. After retirement he was employed part-time by the Sussex Guide where he enjoyed working with his co-workers.

Bill enjoyed deer hunting, sports, taking trips to Lancaster, Pa. and traveling to Disney World. He is survived by his son, Troy Rogers (Stacey); grandchildren, Miranda, Mariah, AJ, Sammie, Gunner, and Pyper; loving sisters, Gloria Hitchens (Wayne), Sherra Wilkerson (Wayne), and Debbie McCabe; and brother, Guy Baker, Jr. (Sandy). He is also survived by three step-sons, Ray Nack, Bill Nack (Deanna), and Clint Nack (Debbie). Several nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 18 years, Joyce Baker.

A viewing was held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024 at the Hickory Hill Methodist Church in Dagsboro followed by a funeral service. Pastor David Edwards officiated. Interment with military honors followed in Millsboro Cemetery.
