Steven Thomas Garner of Seaford passed away at home on Aug. 14, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on Jan. 25, 1952, in Mountain Home, Idaho to the late William and Waunita Garner.
Steven was an educator for many years in the Caroline County School District, Seaford School District, and for the Delaware Department of Education. He was a sports coach for various local teams/schools over the years. Steven also volunteered his time to many organizations including Nanticoke Young Life, Love INC, Teen Challenge, and other various Religious Ministries. He loved to help people, and his faith as a Methodist parishioner was very important to him.
Steven enjoyed playing golf, basketball, going to concerts, traveling, and serving his community, but most of all he loved spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Garner; daughter, Erin Miller (Jared); son, Brandt Garner (Idalma); stepdaughter, Jessica Read; stepson, Anthony Johnston; grandchildren, Ava Miller, Levi Massey, Joelle Read, Jeffrey Leiva, and Rossi Leiva. He is also survived by his brother, John Garner (Linda) and sister, Kelly Ulrich (Clayton), as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Garner; parents, William and Waunita Garner; brother, Michael Garner, and his sister, Sally Rice.
A public viewing took place on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Cranston Funeral Home in Seaford. Services and burial were private.
