Leonard “Bob” Watson of Laurel, passed away on July 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 4, 1944 in Laurel to the late Leonard Earl Watson and Margaret Tarr Watson. Bob graduated from Laurel High School, and after graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Bob was retired from Delmarva Aluminum in their sales department with over 30 years of service. He loved golfing, bowling, and playing softball. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #19, Laurel Saddle Friends, and Past President of the Laurel Alumni Association.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Valerie Jean Noble Watson; daughters, Carmen Carey (Richard), Christie Allen (Michael), Deborah Hearn (Scott), Jennifer Bower (Paul Thompson) and Beverly Trout (Gary); grandchildren, Kelsie Justice-Martin (Tanner), Taylor Hearne (Brooks), Trenton Hearn (Rylee), Hunter Carey (Kennedy), Alexander Hearn, Jayden Trout, Max Allen, Kai Trout, Phoebe Allen, Heather McFarlane (Robbie); great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Sienna, Beckett, Bowen, RJ, Kody, and Amerie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Watson Whaley. The Watson family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Carole Brittingham for the wonderful care she gave “Leonard” during his illness.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17 from noon-1 p.m. at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Pastor Lisa Hines will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
