Sharon Obier Myer passed away May 7, 2024 in a long term care facility, Seaford Genesis in Seaford. After a long illness with Parkinson’s Disease, she succumbed and went willingly to her maker.
She was the daughter of William Francis Obier and Norma Ruth Hamstead Obier of Seaford. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1983 with a Bachelor’s of Art in Music Education. Sharon was very artistic and used her artistic abilities to do anything from painting Christmas ornaments and arts and crafts to using her skills to become a successful picture framer.
Due to the early development of Parkinson’s at the age of 35, she was never able to continue her career to a retirement age. She lost her fine motor skills before she was 40 and was not able to expand on the artistic gift of which she was so very talented in. Sharon did find other work and kept busy and enjoyed working outdoors in many different areas. She was always a gifted musician and also was a great singer. She enjoyed singing in the choir at church and also loved to sing karaoke.
Sharon lost her mother, Norma, in March 2018 and her father, Bill, in November 2022. She is survived by her sister Martha Ellen Carmine and husband W. Thomas Carmine. She is also survived by her niece Jordan Marie with husband Matthew Crockett and her nephew Gregory Trent Wheatley. She was also blessed with a grand niece Ella Marie Crockett and grand nephew Wyatt Scott Crockett.
Sharon was also blessed with the staff of Seaford Genesis. She was a resident there for three years. The staff was such a blessing to Sharon and her family. Sharon had a second family for the last years of her life and will be greatly missed by all her friends/family there.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 13 at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Oak Grove, Seaford.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Cemetery Association, c/o Glen Lovelace, 29449 Oak Grove Road, Seaford, DE 19973
