“You’ll return as a wild thing,

The un-huntable that roams forests, and mountains.

This transition will be a seamless one,

from tired eyes to shining;

I can already see you glancing out of the corners of them,

I can hear the soft sounds of your footsteps on the moss.

Did they see your final breaths rise,

did they see them swirl above you

before vanishing into dark woods,

before filling the lungs of some new

beast, perfect in its infancy?

Let them hold the goodbyes

on their tongues, let the world

believe you departed, but I,

I will stare into the trees and whisper,

Welcome Home.”
