The Woodbridge wrestling team hosted its inaugural Blue Raider Duals at the Bridge tournament last Saturday. The Raiders, who hosted Seaford, Hodgson, Conrad School, Christiana, Tatnall School, and First State Military, earned a 51-29 win over Conrad School in round three of the tournament.

Conrad School opened the meet with a pin in the 120 pound match. Woodbridge’s Andrew Amalfitano (126) broke a 6-6 tie with a pin with 1:01 left in the first period and Tre’Aughn Gotham (132) held a 3-0 lead before winning by fall with 20 seconds left in the first period.

The Raiders’ Jayven Chapman (138) built a 10-5 lead in the second period and won by fall with 29 seconds left. Scott Latham (144) recorded a pin 20 seconds into his match, and King Peden (150) pinned his opponent with 14 seconds left for a 30-6 lead.

The Red Wolves won three of the next four matches to pull within 13 (36-23). Conrad School earned a win by technical fall and recorded a pair of pins and Woodbridge’s Noah Jackson (165) won by forfeit.

The Raiders’ Te’Quan Smith (215) recorded a pin, Conrad had a pin in the 285 pound match, and Woodbridge’s Cooper Kerrick (106) had a 10-0 lead and held on for the 11-8 win by decision. Gunnar Scoles won by forfeit in the 112 pound match to seal the 51-29 victory.
