It is with great sadness that the family of Paul D. Hastings share his passing on Aug. 28, 2025. Paul was born Feb. 7, 1937, in Buffalo, NY to the late Leon Hastings and Grace King Hastings. His family later moved to Sussex County.
Paul graduated from Seaford High School Class of 1955. He was well known for his athletic accomplishments in football, track, and basketball.
Paul went on to have a lengthy career with Bell Atlantic (Verizon) and retired after 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as his love of sports and passion for flying. Friends often referred to him as the “bionic man” for his sports achievements. Paul’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. The Pop-Pop shuttle was always available for Jason and Brooke.
Paul is survived by his son, Stephen D. Hastings (Patti); his grandchildren, Jason D, Hastings (Molly), Brooke Leigh Hastings; and former wife, Beverly Fleetwood Hastings. His great-granddaughter, Grace Louise, always put a smile on his face.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by siblings, Leon Hastings Jr, William Hastings, Mark Hastings, David Hastings and Donna Hill.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to Amanda Stern and the staff of Bay Terrance Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their kindness and compassionate care during these last years of Paul’s illness.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
