This month, Coastal Hospice will hold their annual memorial gathering for Wicomico County. The free event offers an opportunity for members of the community to honor and remember loved ones who have passed on.

On Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Coastal Hospice will hold Wicomico’s memorial gathering at Oak Ridge Church on 361 Tilghman Rd. in Salisbury. Historically, these events are usually held outside, often near water, but with Oak Ridge’s offer of indoor space the event can go on regardless of the weather. The free event is open to anyone who would like to participate, not just families involved in Coastal Hospice.

The memorial event will provide time for remembrance, connection and support. Advance registration is encouraged, particularly for those who would like to share photos of loved ones in a slideshow presentation. Families are invited to speak about the person they came to honor as well as meet with staff members and grief counselors and get connected with grief support within the community.

Since 1980, Coastal Hospice has been serving Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore providing services and partnerships well beyond their primary work with hospice patients and families.

In addition to offering these annual memorial events to the community, Coastal Hospice also provides virtual grief support groups, restorative classes, resource connection, veterans programs and pre-hospice support.

For more information about Coastal Hospice’s community services, visit their website at www.coastalhospice.org. Registration for Wicomico’s memorial gathering is also available on the website. Once registration is complete, attendees will receive an email with details on how to send photos and request time to speak about their loved one(s).
