Everyone knows when October comes around each year fundraising begins for breast cancer awareness. Unfortunately, October is not the only month our daughters, siblings, mothers, and grandparents hear the words, “you have breast cancer.”
Throughout the year and especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Women Supporting Women (WSW) hold various functions to further awareness of breast cancer to community members on Delmarva.
Additionally, businesses and individuals hold Third Party events where they receive donations for WSW, but also provide attendees information on all our programs and services available to those diagnosed with breast cancer.
Funding raised throughout the year, not just in October will stay local and be used to provide free services to breast cancer survivors both men and women on the Delmarva Peninsula. Out of every dollar, 82 cents go back into our local community.
With no national ties or funding, we rely completely on our community to help provide free services to our neighbors, friends, and families right here on Delmarva.
Future events are being planned which range from a health and wellness conference, “Prettier Than Pink” Program for those currently going through chemotherapy treatment, to various educational workshops.
WSW’s mission is to provide awareness, education, and support to all those who are affected by breast cancer. It is this mission that our board members and staff have followed over the past 29 years since our doors opened to the public.
We are your local, grass-roots non-profit organization here on Delmarva providing guidance for those who have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
With mentoring services, WSW provides the compassion and understanding you would expect from a friend or family member.
We are here to encourage those going through their breast cancer journey with as little or as much information as they feel they need.
Women Supporting Women is here for you, your family, and friends when you need providing local services and local support year-round.
