Anne Carol “Cookie” Maloney, 79, of Millsboro, went to sing with the heavenly angels on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026 at Overlook Memory Care in Suwanee, GA. She was born in Salisbury on Jan. 31, 1946 and was the daughter of the late E. Linwood Ward and Catherine P. Ward.
Anne was a graduate of Delmar High School and retired from the state of Delaware as a juvenile probation officer. She loved the arts, whether attending Broadway shows or performing in Possum Point Players with her friends, singing with her dear friend, Gail Kelso, or her son, Patrick. Anne’s love of reading extended to her working at her local library during retirement. She loved having family gatherings and cooking with her sister, Betty. Anne is survived by her sister, Betty E. James of Laurel; her son, Patrick Maloney and his wife, Karin Maloney, of Suwanee, Ga.; and her two precious granddaughters, Kaity and Beckey of Suwanee, Ga. She also has multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, E. Linwood and Catherine and brother, Ernest Ward.
A celebration of life will be held in April 2026 in Laurel. More details will be shared closer to that time.
