In 1920, a group of business professionals determined their collective interests needed representation. The common goal to grow their businesses and the region required formalization and the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) was born.
Fast forward a century and multiple downtown locations, and the SACC remains a vital institution representing 700 businesses and organizations across 10 Maryland counties and six states.

This milestone would not have been possible without the thousands of dedicated businessmen and women volunteering their time, experience and expertise. These individuals served on committees, the board of directors and held executive leadership roles. Too numerous to name individually, their collective contributions left an imprint on the entire region.
Maryland’s lower Eastern Shore has become “the” place to grow a business, raise a family and enjoy a quality of life unmatched by other parts of Maryland. That, among other legacies, is the indelible mark made by the chamber and its leadership over the past century.
Today, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce continues to advocate, educate and connect businesses and their employees. Chamber committees are vibrant and encompass legislative advocacy on all levels, supporting investments across all education platforms, fostering small business growth opportunities and countless networking events where connections are made. The SACC partners with other business advocacy leaders to protect the business interests of its members.
Fighting state and federal legislation that would burden businesses and organizations is critical to the chamber. Advocating against new government-imposed employer mandates, harmful overregulation and anti-business taxes and fees are just a sample of what the SACC focuses on and is a primary benefit of membership.
The Salisbury Area Chamber team, its board of directors and the executive committee are honored to serve its members and the regional business community. The chamber looks forward to supporting the business and organizational community at large in 2023 and beyond.
