Barbara A. Bennett of Laurel, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Lifecare at Lofland Park in Seaford.
Born on Nov. 9, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Robert Allen Rice and Mary Sarah Rice.
Barbara retired from the home health care business, and also from Air Packs and farming with her late husband. She loved the Lord and her family.
Barbara was a lifetime member of the Sharptown Ladies Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved the beach, reading a good book and country music line dancing.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Deborah Bell, Susan Dykes (Richard) Naomi Hastings (Jason) and William “Willy” Bennett (Megan); eight grandchildren, Jamie Matthews, Brian Taylor, Carrie Rhem, Shelby Marine, Kelly Marine, Hailee Bennett, Hannah Bennett and Ashlynn Hastings; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandy Rice of Massachusetts and Robert Rice of Virginia.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, William Bennett Sr. in 2018, and her siblings, Evelyn Short, Patricia Mousseau, Peter Rice, and two infant brothers, Lawrence and Gary Rice.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Hannnigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, Laurel. The Rev. David Bennett officiated. Interment was in Sharptown’s Firemen’s Cemetery.
