Thelma S. (Thawley) Gilster of Reed City, MI passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021.
She was born July 5, 1944 in Salisbury, Md., the daughter of George H. and Floyd (Morris) Thawley.
Thelma moved to Indiana in 1969 to be near her brother who was a minister at the time. She married Reginald Gilster in Jeffersonville, IN on Oct. 2, 1976 at the Branham Tabernacle. The family moved to Arizona where their son Samuel was born. The family eventually moved to Michigan settling in Reed City in 1987. Thelma worked her entire life as a nurse’s aide, specializing in home care.
She is survived by her son Samuel Gilster of Reed City; a brother, Arthur “Buddy” Thawley and wife Catherine of Felton; sister-in-law, Beulah Thawley of Salisbury, NC; and five nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Rev. G Robert Thawley (July 26, 2021), and sister Esther Thawley. Her husband, Reginald Gilster passed on Sept. 24, 2021.
Thelma was laid to rest at the Curtice Cemetery near Bitely.
