Terry L. Wright of Laurel passed away at home surrounded by her family on Feb. 11, 2021.

Terry was born in Brownington, Vermont, a daughter of the late Sheridan and Dora May Prue.

Terry was a Laurel Town Council President and served 10 years. She served 12 years on the town council. She was the Administrative Chair at Centenary United Methodist Church, Vice President and Treasurer for the Laurel Public Library, Building Committee member for new Laurel Middle and High Schools, Master of Broad Creek Grange, General Federation of Women’s Club and Delaware State Federation Woman’s Club. She was also President and Director of Laurel New Century Club, President of Tri-County Chorus, President and Director of GFWC-DSFWC Federation Guild Association Club.

Terry was a professional wallpaper hanger for many years. She taught porcelain doll making for many years and loved going to doll shows all over the country with her husband, John. She loved singing and entertaining to raise money for Delaware Food Bank and other needy organizations. She loved the arts, traveling with John while making many new friends along the way. In her later years she became a gardener when her health was challenged, she and John created a paradise with a Japanese garden and koi pond. She was thankful to God for this special place of reflection and tranquility. Most of all she loved Jesus and walked with Him and trusted Him especially during her struggle with Myasthenia gravis.

Terry loved the love of her life husband John, family and friends and cherished them all.

 Terry is survived by her husband John H. Wright of Laurel; her children, Tina Louise Quillen of Seaford, Christian Anne Colby McGinnis of Mount Olive, MD and Henry Albert Colby II of Princess Anne; grandchildren, Zack Quillen and Kellie McGinnis; her siblings, Sally Prue of Vermont, Jerry Prue of Vermont, Larry Prue of Virginia, Russell Prue of Virginia, Holly Wilson of Virginia, Ira Prue of Maryland, Susan Osborne of Virginia, Nathan Prue of Maryland and Neal Prue of North Carolina; and sister-in-laws, Joan Catlin of Maryland, Joyce Burton of Maryland and Eleanor Schells of Maryland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson John Quillen III, her first and second husbands Travis Oda and Henry Colby, and many siblings.

A funeral service will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. A walkthrough viewing will also be held from 1-2 p.m. The Rev. Dean Perdue will officiate. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required. Interment will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens in Hebron.
