Ruth Ann Tingle passed away in the presence of her family at her daughter’s home on Oct. 6, 2021. Ruth Ann was born in 1937 to Clarence and Blanche (Cordrey) Smith of Whitesville, Del. and graduated from Delmar High School, class of 1955.

She was married to Maurice Tingle, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage earlier this year. She had two children, Kevin Tingle (Melinda) and Lori Elliott (John). She had four grandchildren, Dylan Layfield, Dalton Layfield, Erin Donovan (Logan), and Alison Tingle. She also was the proud grandmother of three great-grandchildren: Emmie, Kolby and Kenzie (due any time) Donovan.

Ruth Ann was predeceased by six siblings: brothers, Loran Smith (Esta), William Smith (Naomi), Waldon Smith (Hilda), Richard Smith (Lois) and sisters, Isabell Meeker (George) and Betty Jean Tice. She is survived by brother-in-law, Marvil Tice.

Ruth Ann retired from Standard Equipment Company (formerly Powland Equipment Company and Hughes Equipment Company) at 73 years of age after working for the three John Deere dealers as parts manager for 38 years. She loved her customers and coworkers and considered them all good friends.

Ruth Ann was a member of Line United Methodist Church in Whitesville, and Delmar Alumni Association. She actively volunteered at Line UM Church, Harvest Christian Ministries outreach and for Delmar Ruritan Club functions. She and Maurice also spent decades riding motorcycles together, and they were active members of the local Retreads Motorcycle Club until they stopped riding.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct. 15 at Line Church Community Cemetery at 33961 East Line Road, Delmar, MD at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Line Community Cemetery, c/o Judy Lowe, 8717 Burnt Mill Road, Willards, MD 21874.
