Ronald E. Scott of Laurel, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Ron was born in Lewes, a son of the late Edward and Anna Scott.
Ron attended Wingate College, Appalachian State, and Delaware State College. He later was a school teacher in the Laurel School District for 34 years where he was active in coaching and officiating sports.
Ron was a member of the Laurel Lions Club serving many terms as president and various other positions. He was past president of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and was a Delaware State Fire Policeman. He enjoyed softball and golf, and watching sports on television. Ron was a member and past trustee president at Centenary United Methodist Church. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Scott of Laurel; a son, Troy Scott and wife Robin of Tennessee; a daughter, Nicole Callaway and husband Darin of Seaford; a brother, Jerry Scott and wife Carolyn of Seaford; grandchildren, Andrew Callaway, Gavin Scott and Austin Callaway; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life was held on Sunday, April 7, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel. The Rev. Dean Perdue officiated. Interment was held privately.
