Robert “Bob” Spear Sr. passed away on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at Paradise Senior Living in Georgetown, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Laurel, he was the son of the late Paul G. Spear and Thelma Hill Spear.
Bob was a retired farmer who formerly grew grain, vegetables, and raised poultry. He was a member of the Laurel Grange and the Poor Boy’s Yacht Club at Suicide Bridge, a past member of the Tractor Pull Association and a past stockholder with the Laurel Auction Block. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtle Marie Spear; daughters, Teresa Henry and her husband Steve and Donna Smart and her husband Rick; daughter-in-law, Maxine Lynch and her husband Jerry; grandchildren, Kathy Hill and her husband Randy, Doug and his wife Michelle, Melissa Kiser and her husband Stan, Bobbie Joseph and her husband Brian, and Billie Davis and her husband Josh; great-grandchildren, Justin Hill, Brittany Hill, Victoria Henry, Ian Elder, Ethan Davis, Brianna Joseph, Brice Joseph, Isabella Kiser, Evan Kiser, and Lainey Kiser; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Spear, and his sister, Anna Mae Elliott.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, Laurel. The Rev. Jim Hitch officiated. Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
