Rita Wright Marvel entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021. She was born on May 9, 1939 at Beebe Hospital to Joseph Wright and Winifred Vickers Wright. She graduated from Laurel High School in June 1958 and married her sweetheart, Buddy, on Sept. 27, 1958. 

For many years until its closing, she had worked at the iconic Mannings Pharmacy on High Street in Seaford. She spent the last 30 years of her career working for Dr. H. Paul Aguillon and later his son Paul at Sussex Medical Center in Blades.

She is survived by two sons, J. Todd Marvel (Cynthia) of Magnolia and Michael Marvel (Joy) of Seaford; grandsons Sage Marvel of Seaford and Courtney Lord (Tiffany) of Seaford; and great-grandchildren Justin, Caroline and Kyle Lord. She is also survived by three sisters and their families, Joanne Veazey of Seaford, Dianne Callaway (Ron) of Seaford, and Joyce Aguillon of Seaford. She was preceded in death by her husband Willard “Buddy” Marvel, her parents Joseph and Winifred Wright, her sister Carolyn O’Neal, and many beloved cousins. 

Rita was a workaholic, always striving to provide the best for her family. She enjoyed traveling out to dinner, attending her beloved Portsville United Methodist Church, vacationing in Virginia Beach, and camping with Buddy at various locations on the Eastern Shore, as well as hosting her famous Christmas morning breakfast at her home. 

A viewing will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel on Friday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m.-noon. A funeral service will begin at noon at the funeral home. Reverend Kevin Wells will officiate. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Bethel. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
