Rachel Ann Massey Parsons Bornt peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Jan. 8, 2022.

She was born on Christmas day in 1938 in Galestown to the late George and Martha Massey.

Rachel was a beautiful light in the lives of all who knew and loved her. After Jesus, she was the greatest gift we ever received. She lived a life of gratitude, teaching by example how to love others and look for the good in everyone and everything. Her strong work ethic began in her early teens while working alongside family and friends on the farms in Mardela.

As an adult, she was employed in the garment manufacturing industry, first at Walker’s in Blades then on to Gant’s in Salisbury. She also worked part-time for many years at Woolworth’s in Seaford. After the passing of her second husband, she worked in retail at McCrory’s and Dick’s Sporting Goods, both in Salisbury. In 2011, she retired from K&L Microwave in Salisbury after many years of dedicated service. Once retired, she remained active. She gladly helped others by driving them to appointments, helping with their household chores and assisting friends and family in any way she could. She also enjoyed time with family, trips to Ocean City, Shorebirds games, local church hymn sings and bingo at St. Andrew’s.

Left to cherish all the joy she brought into their lives are her two daughters, Pam Parsons and Jan Sapp and her husband J.C.; five grown step-children and their families; a sister-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Henry and their wives; two nephews; her husband, Mike Bornt; three grown step-children; and longtime companion, Marion Yewell.

Pam and Jan give a heartfelt thanks to the caretakers at Delmar Villa. You made a difference in Mom’s life and ours these last few months.
