Patriotic Book Drive

In the midst of Memorial Day, the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and Independence Day the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7478 Auxiliary in Greenwood announced the beginning of their Annual Patriotic Book Drive. New, hard cover books are being collected which will be distributed to five area schools and be used by students in grades K-12, including the MCJROTC who attend Woodbridge High School in Bridgeville. Books desired are: American history books; books about the U.S. Constitution, civics, government, voting, the legislative process whereby a bill becomes a law; biography and autobiographies of Americans; American geography and national parks and monuments; American traditions (music, food, and customs) and American history era pieces.

New hard-cover books in the desired areas can be left with Dr. Michaele Russell at 102 Maryland Avenue in Greenwood. Interested donors can also participate by donating to the patriotic book drive and our members will book shop for you at three participating book companies. Your donation is tax deductible and can be made payable to: VFW Aux. 7478 and earmarked “patriotic books.” Send to: Willard T.
