Mary Ann Tice passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, July 21, 2019.
She was born at home on Dec. 8, 1939 in Seaford, to the late Lester and Mary Jones.
Mary Ann attended a one room grade school in Concord until 6th grade and then went on to graduate from Seaford High School in the class of 1957.
On June 1, 1957, she married the love of her life, Roland E. Tice, and together they had one son and two daughters.
Roland and Mary started their ministry as United Methodists. Five years later, in February of 1974 they founded Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel. As a pastor’s wife, she was known for the love she shared, the meals she cooked, and the way she served her husband side by side in their ministry. During that same time, she was a bus contractor for the Seaford School District and Sussex Tech for 34 years.
In honor of her memory we will be creating a cookbook of her recipes. Mary Ann wanted all children to learn about Jesus and his love. Her hobbies, as many may know, were cooking, crafting, gardening and yard sales.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, the Rev. Roland Tice; a son, Danny Tice and his wife Karen; daughters, Denise Crothers and her husband Gregg, and Debora Musser and her husband Kevin; sister, Barbara James and her husband Leroy; six grandchildren, Tim Tice and wife Jessica, Angela Golliday and husband Chris, Joel Tice and wife Stacey, Vaughn Crothers and wife Lynette, Brooks Musser, Alexis Musser; 13 great-grandchildren, Willow, Jack, Kayla, Greyson, Roman, Bentley, Briella, Nora, Nixon, Grant, Grace, Austin, and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
She will forever be remembered for her gift of loving people and her servant’s heart.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 27, at Christ Evangelistic Church, Laurel. Interment was at Concord Cemetery in Seaford.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Mary Ann Tice, to Christ Evangelistic Church, 9802 Camp Rd., Laurel, DE 19956.
