Linda Diana Smith of Laurel passed away on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born in Milford on Feb. 2, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ella Mae Darby Hummer. After high school, she began a lifelong career in accounting and bookkeeping. For the last nearly 30 years, Linda had been in the finance division of TidalHealth in Salisbury. Prior to joining them, she had worked for Discount Land and Johnny Janosik of Laurel.
She was a member of Bay Shore Community Church in Millsboro. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower bed at home, Linda especially loved to attend her grandson’s baseball games and her granddaughter’s cheerleading competitions. Linda loved well and was well loved. Her greatest joy was her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Gary L. Smith, Sr., whom she married on June 5, 1971; a son, Gary L. (Cheryl), Jr.; a daughter, Kelly Joseph (fiance’ Brian Colligan); a brother, Wayne Hummer (Linda); a sister, Mary Shrieves’; two grandchildren, Elijah and Faith Smith; sisters-in-law, Trudy Smith, Robin Smith and Deborah Wilkerson (Bob); a brother-in-law, Wayne Smith (Barbara); several nieces and nephews and many friends that she considered family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Bay Shore Community Church, Millsboro on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. Pastor Danny R. Tice will officiate. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
