On Saturday, Aug. 10, the Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7478 Greenwood Memorial, 301 Mill St., Greenwood, will sponsor Jail-n-Bail, a charity event to benefit the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Mich. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Volunteer jail birds will be under “Post Arrest” until they earn $200 in bail money.
Jail birds may raise bail money by signing up for a time to sit in jail and bring their collected bail money with them or sit in jail and use a cell phone to call friends and family to bring donations to them. The sheriff is Treasurer Willard Russell.
All proceeds will go to the VFW National Home for Children which serves military and veterans families across America. The home is financed entirely by the VFW and its Auxiliary and the Military Order of the Cootie and its Auxiliary (hospital branch of the VFW) plus gifts by donors. To learn more about the home, visit www.vfwnationalhome.org.
To support this charity event, donations may be sent to: Dr. Michaele Russell, Sec., 102 Maryland Ave., Greenwood, DE 19950-7724. Checks should be made payable to: VFW Auxiliary #7478 and earmarked “Jail-n-Bail.”
If someone would like to be a jail bird and raise their bail, contact Dr. Michaele Russell at 302-349-4220 and select a time slot.
