Harold Sidney Snyder Jr. (Bud), died on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019.
Born in Minneapolis, Minn., he joined the Navy after high school. A “terrible student” he excelled in the Navy, working his way up through the ranks, retiring after 24 years as a lieutenant. His license plate said US NAVY showing the pride he had serving his country. Bud’s first duty station was Chincoteague, Va., where he met his wife of 66 years, Betty Jane Whaley of Laurel. Betty died this past March.
After retirement, he owned a custom picture framing business until the age of 87, using his creative talents to display his clients’ treasured works of art.
Bud is survived by three children, Vicki Strohmaier, Elizabeth Tanner, and Ed Uthman; three grandchildren, Daniel, William and Scott Rosenblum; and three great-grandchildren, Reed, Jack and Mila Rosenblum.
A military burial at sea will take place as he requested. There will be no local services.
