Douglas Richard Miller passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 with his loving family by his side.

Doug was born in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late John Richard “Dick” Miller and Alice Beebe Miller. 

The family moved to Seaford when he was at a young age. He graduated from Seaford High School in 1964. He married his high school sweetheart, Gilda Baker on March 11, 1966.

He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 1965 to Dec. 1968 and did a tour in Vietnam as an air traffic controller from ‘67 to ‘68. He spent 35 years with the DuPont Co. in Seaford. 

Doug loved the outdoors and traveling. He placed numerous bluebird houses and planted trees throughout the local area. He was an avid birdwatcher, a great photographer, both nature and aviation, enjoyed antique shopping, amassed an impressive collection, particularly Shawne, Bluebirds and Delaware Glass. He loved watching local waterways traffic, especially tugboats. He was a self-taught computer guru, and developed a number of websites to showcase his varied interests.

Doug is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gilda Baker Miller; two children, Kurt and Saundra; five grandchildren, Jaime, Kolby, Addison, Blake and Kate; a brother, Donald “Pete” Miller and two sisters, Nancy Perry and Fran Ash; and his beloved dogs, Madi and Ziva.

Doug was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and had countless good friends.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Shipley St., Seaford.
