Chromebooks at the library

Thanks to a generous grant from the Dart Foundation, the Seaford District Library now has 16 Chromebooks available for patron use. Chromebooks must be checked out with a valid Delaware library card and must remain within the library at all times.

Both children and adults with a valid library card are welcome to borrow the devices. The Chromebooks are also available for use by business, professional, and educational groups who wish to utilize the library for a meeting, program, or event.

For those unfamiliar with this device, a Chromebook is a small laptop tablet, about the length and width of an average hardback novel. Chromebooks are convenient for anyone who does not wish to sit at and use a desktop computer. With a Chromebook, you can relax on one of our sofas or chairs located throughout the library. Anything that can be accessed by one of the library’s desktop computers can be accessed by the Chromebooks.

The Chromebooks are protected from misuse or removal from the library building by virtue of a lock-down feature. A hefty fine will be assessed if a Chromebook is discovered to be missing from the library.
