Brice Melvin Smart, Jr. passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021.

Brice was a wonderful father, son, brother (in-law), uncle and cousin that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. Brice’s story started on Jan. 21, 1959, the oldest son of Lillian and Brice, Sr., he was a ball of energy and spirit that began at birth and continued until his death. He was raised in Blades and graduated from Seaford High School, and attended Wesleyan College in Allentown, Pa. Brice loved his family and loved life. Brice never met a stranger and his bigger than life personality shown through with everyone he met. He enjoyed entertaining the nieces and nephews at family gatherings and everyone knew they would always be laughing whenever he was around. 

Brice touched so many lives during his time here on earth. He played sports at a young age, and this transferred into his adult life. He was a coach for many years at Nanticoke Little League where he developed boys into baseball players. Brice exuded his passion for winning and learning the game of baseball into every player on his team. He enjoyed watching his family members play sports and attended and watched many games, including games of his beloved Orioles and Notre Dame football.

Brice was a member of the Blades Fire Company for many years. Brice worked as a Shipping Manager at Penn Fibre in Greenwood for 32 years, retiring in 2018. He obtained his real estate license in 2006 and worked at Callaway, Farnell & Moore since 2009.

He was preceded in death by his father, Brice Smart, Sr. He is survived by his son, Jordy Smart; his step-daughter, Danah Chaffinch (Joey); his mother, Lillian Carmean; sister, Deborah Hall (Ray) and brothers, Gregory Smart and Scott Smart, Sr. (Dawn). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Timothy Hall (Bronwyn and Clover), Hope Runnels (Scott, Perry, Ella and Carson), Lindsey Smart (Will, Mason and Peyton), Shannon Smart (Tyler), Scott Smart, Jr. (Lexie, Easton and Reed), Nicholas Smart (Taylor), Seth Smart and Kaylee Bradford. He is also survived by many cousins, other family members and friends.

A viewing was held on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Cranston Funeral Home in Seaford. Funeral services followed. Interment will be private.
