The Auxiliary of Greenwood Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7478 will hold its “12th Annual New Sock Drive” for male and female veterans and active duty military personnel through Sunday, Oct. 20.
The troops have listed new socks at the top of their wish list, and the Auxiliary is inviting the public to donate new, cold weather socks. Some of the socks will be given away at the Stand Down and at veterans shelters as well as sent overseas to deployed U.S. military troops. All socks must be new and in original packaging.
Colder weather means warm socks for many of us so while you are out shopping pick up a few extra pair for our military men and women who risk their lives every day. Also with kids going back to school and back to after school activities such as clubs, scouts and youth groups, new socks can be collected as a community project. Businesses and individuals are also encouraged to sponsor a new sock drive.
When purchasing socks which may be any color or style for men and women, please remember to purchase some in the extended size (10-13) as well.
Call Dr. Michaele Russell at 302-349-4220 to deliver the new socks or make arrangements to have them picked up.
