Alan “Wade” Emory returned to his heavenly home on Nov. 19, 2021, with his family by his side, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born on April 6, 1965 in Seaford, the youngest of four children of the late Joseph and Virginia Emory.

A graduate of Seaford High School in Seaford and Sussex Vo-Tech in Georgetown, class of 1983, Wade was a man of many trades and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was employed with Nanticoke Fence for the last several years. In his free time, Wade enjoyed many days fishing along the Nanticoke River and spending time with his family and friends. He was a long-time member of the New Rock Church in Laurel, where members grew to love him, as they knew him as a kind, gracious, generous man. Wade was a loving and devoted husband, brother, stepfather, uncle, and friend, who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Emory. He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Michelle Emory; his siblings: Barbara Jo Ammons and Joseph C. Emory (Tina Stevenson); his stepchildren: Kristina Ogle, Christopher Ogle, and Brandon Baker; his nieces: Deena Yale (Michael Mulvaney), and Lisa Hignutt (Mike); his nephew: Douglas Emory (Irene); and his many great nieces and nephews, with whom he loved to act like a child – they will miss him dearly. Wade was an honorable and humble man who was taken from this earth too soon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, 609 E. King Street, Seaford, where friends may visit beginning at 4:30 p.m. Interment will be private.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required by all persons attending or participating in any aspect of the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions in Wade’s memory made to the Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Rd., Lewes, DE 19958, or The New Rock Church, 30320 Seaford Rd., Laurel, DE 19956.
